Moroccan Meatball Couscous Soup

Ingredients:
Meatballs:
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon curry powder
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric
- ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon chili powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1.5 lb. ground lamb or beef
- 8 oz Israeli (pearl) couscous
- 3 tablespoons olive oil + 2 teaspoons
- 3 shallots, minced
- 8 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 3¾ cups water
- Chopped mint or parsley, for serving
